The Servant of God, Luisa Piccarreta, Dominican Tertiary, was born at Corato, Province of Bari, Italy, on April 23, 1865. Elect soul, seraphic spouse of christ, humble, pious, and endowed by God with extraordinary gifts: Herald of the Kingdom of the Divine Will, true and innocent victim, and therefore effective and continuous lightning rod for Divine Justice, aroused to indignation by the sins of mankind. A young girl barely 18 years old (Vision or dream? To Ecclesiastical Authority the judgment.) she saw Jesus, bent under the Cross, who told her: "Soul, help Me!" Thereafter that solitary soul lived in continuous union with the ineffable sufferings of her Divine Spouse.
From her 13th to 18th year, her angelic life was spent among outpourings of Divine Love and celestial favors, as well as among extraordinary signs of supernatural life. In her 62 years of being bed-ridden she endured her hard and painful infirmity with heroic Christian strength, and from her bed of pain she was the comfort of weak and suffering souls, the light of all those who approached her for advice.
She called herself the "The little daughter of the Divine Will"; to everyone and continuously she spoke about the Divine Will, how to operate and live in It. Those who heard her were amazed and astonished by her speech full of wisdom and Divine Unction, and many left her little room spiritually transformed and spiritually purified. Everyone considered her holy, everyone called her "Luisa the Saint."
Full of merits, on March 4, 1947, in the eternal light of the Divine Volition, she finished her days, as she lived, to triumph with the Angels and Saints in the eternal splendors of the Divine Will.
